Quiz To Check If You Are Suffering From PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Post-traumatic stress disorder is characterized by the appearance of symptoms after the exposure to an stressful and traumatic event, where the individual is involved in a situation that supposes a real danger to his life or the life of others.

The consequences derived from these kinds of traumatic situations may leave evident physical traces, but there are other consequences, the psychological ones, which do not appear immediately. They take days, weeks and even months to emerge, and if they are not properly treated, they may disable the affected person in his daily life.

The symptoms of the individual after the traumatic event include persistent memories of the traumatic event (e.g., in nightmares), avoidance of stimuli associated to the traumatic event, feeling defensive or irritable, having trouble sleeping, having trouble concentrating, feeling excessively alert, getting scared easily, having sudden fits of anger.

These symptoms cause significant discomfort and damage in the individual’s social or working life, or other important aspects of his routine.

Traumatic events that may cause post-traumatic stress are as follows: war fights, violent personal attacks (sexual and physical aggression, robbery of personal property), kidnapping, torture, imprisonment, natural or man-made disasters, serious car accidents or diagnosis for potentially fatal diseases.

Although an event may affect us and cause us too much anxiety, it may not necessarily lead to a post-traumatic stress disorder. However, if you start to get too distressed, or thoughts or images of the event appear, do not hesitate to consult a specialist.

If your test results show that you do not meet the criteria of diagnosis for this disorder, you may show symptoms of anxiety that might interfere negatively with your daily life or your working (or academic) or social relationships.

Do the following test and check if you meet the criteria of diagnosis for a post-traumatic stress disorder. If so, you will need to take actions that may help you solve it and prevent more serious problems in the long term.
